Selling Gold & Jewelry Questions

Have a question about selling your items? Check out this list of commonly asked questions — or feel free to fill out the form below to ask us a question not on this list.

How does the buying process work?

First, request an appointment with our in-house Graduate Gemologist using the form below. At your appointment, Cary, our Graduate Gemologist, will take the time to thoroughly look at your item(s) and let you know if we're interested in purchasing. If we are, he'll make you a non-obligated offer on the spot & you'll walk away with a check that day if you accept.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes, our Graduate Gemologist travels between our three store locations so it's ideal to make an appointment with him using the form below. You can specify your desired store location to meet in, and then Cary will try to find a day/time that works with your schedule.

Why should I sell to Murphy's?

By choosing to work with Murphy Jewelers to sell your jewelry, you can be rest assured that you're working with a professional who has been meticulously trained and certified, plus someone who has the experience and networks needed to make the best deal. Our in-house buyer, Cary Keno, has 20+ years of experience and a long list of certifications, including a degree as a Graduate Gemologist from the esteemed Gemological Institute of America, as well as a Masters of Science degree. He is an expert appraiser of jewelry, diamonds, gems, watches, and coins.

Should I bring anything with me?

Yes, it's important to bring a form of identification, such as your driver's license, to your appointment. If you have anything relating to your item, such as a certification, receipt, or original box, you should bring them along as well.

What if my item is broken? Are you still interested?

Yes, absolutely! Even if your items are broken, we may still be interested in purchasing.

Is there a charge to make an appointment to sell items?

No, there is no fee to meet with our Graduate Gemologist appraiser to see if we are interested in purchasing your items.
